Recently visited Ghana and went to Bojo Beach in Weija Accra with my grandchildren.

Shortly thereafter three fishermen docked their wooden canoe fishing boat and started dragging their mile long fishing net to the shore. Spontaneously, without any hesitation several people at the beach joined in their effort and assisted in pulling in the fishing net to the seashore.

Later, during casual conversation with one of the volunteers, I nonchalantly asked if he was going to get some of the catch or be paid for his effort. He answered ‘No. This is going to be food for the people in my community and I may even buy some from the fish mongers for my diner meal but I’m glad and willing to help in anyway I can.’ His simple straightforward insightful and arrestingly poignant answer struck a chord and aligned perfectly, in my mind, with the Mission and Vision of UGMSAF. This man’s selfless motivation, volunteerism and spirit of sharing and sacrifice to help others inspires me to continue to actively participate in the Vision and Mission of UGMSAF and

I hope, perhaps, despite all your notable charitable work, he inspires you too. ugmsaf.com
